Brief Introduction:
The department
was established in July, 2002 as one of the five new
post-graduate departments in the university. The
department started functioning effectively from 22nd
July, 2002. A formal inaugural function of the
department was held on 16th August, 2002
in Conference Hall of Mizoram University, Aizawl.
Professor A.K.Sharma, Vice-Chancellor of the Mizoram
University declared the inaugural address. The
department is located at Tanhril Campus. Revised PG
Syllabus as per UGC Guidelines was approved by Board
of Post Graduate Studies in History & Ethnography in
its 1st Meeting held on 24th
Oct., 2004, by the School Board in its 4th
Meeting held on 24th Nov., 2004 and by
Academic Council in its 6th Meeting held
on 20th May, 2005 which is to be
effective from July 2005.
