     The Department was established and stated functioning from July, 2002 with the name Forest Ecology, Biodiversity & Environmental Science. Later on, the Department was named as Environmental Science in 2009.

 

About the Department:

    The Department was established and stated functioning from July, 2002 with the name Forest Ecology, Biodiversity & Environmental Science. Later on, the Department was named as Environmental Science in 2009. Presently, the Department is functioning with six faculty i.e., one Professor, two Associate Professors and three Assistant Professors. The number of supporting staff in the Department is amounting to five (one each working as a Technical Assistant, Field Assistant, Laboratory Assistant, LDC and Peon). The Department deals with relevant issues pertaining to the changing environment at the global, regional and local levels. The basic laboratory equipments required to conduct researches on various aspects of environmental science are available in the Department. The major thrust areas identified under R&D programme of the Department are:

  • Environmental pollution & management
  • Exploration of biodiversity & conservation,
  • Exploration of Forest Resources(Timber & Non-Timber) and
  • Eco-restoration of degraded ecosystems.
