The department of Zoology as a post graduate department came into existence in the month of July 2006 when the first batch of MSc was admitted. The Department offers P.G., M.Phil. and Ph.D courses with an intake capacity of 30 students in PG course. The syllabus of MSc course is strictly framed on the UGC guidelines. The Research Areas include Cancer Biology and Radiation Biology, Conservation Biology, Entomology, Developmental Biology, Systematics, Genetics, Chronobiology and Reproductive Biology.
The Department at present has 3 Professors, 0 Associate Professor and 5 Assistant Professors. The Non -teaching Staff include Senior Technical Assistant, Technical Assistant, Laboratory Attendant and a Peon.
The course for MSc is based on choice based credit system (CBCS) and comprises of four semesters of six months duration each. The whole course has been allocated 88 credits and consists of 20 theory papers including dissertation out of which four papers consists of specialization courses with six alternate choices, four papers as foundation courses with one open elective course.
The Department has thirty seats in MSc programme. The Department reserves the right not to fill all the seats in MSc programme. The reservation policy for admission to this programme is as per University rules and regulations. The admission is given on the
